The Spokesman of the National Port Authority (NPA) Malcolm Prosperous Scott has disclosed that the suspended Port Manager of the Port of Buchanan, Charles McArthur Gull has admitted to investigators that he and his accomplices opened a secret account at their own discretion and remitted monies to it without the knowledge of the authorized individuals.
Mr. Scott made the disclosure at a news conference on the afternoon of August 11, 2021 at his office on Bushrod Island.
“The Port Manager of the Port of Buchanan, NPA’s second largest port has informed investigators looking into accusations of corruption against him and his accomplices that they opened a bogus account and have been remitting monies to it,” the NPA Spokesman told reporters.
Giving the fact that they have admitted, the National Port Authority through its Managing Director Bill Tweahway has turned the suspects over to the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC) for further actions.
Mr. Scott indicated that the suspects are begging for mercy.
