Focused On Improving Liberians Livelihood Not Rumor -VP Howard-Taylor On Leaked Recording

Liberia's First Female Vice President, Chief Dr. Jewel Howard-Taylor

For days now, the pages of newspapers and social media platforms have been inundated with skirmishes on a leaked audio in which the Superintendent of Bong County, Madam Ester Walker made sterling revelation of purported strains between Liberia’s first female Vice President, Chief Dr. Jewel Howard-Taylor and her boss, President George Manneh Weah.

In an exclusive interview with M-News Africa at her Capitol Building Office today, February 21, 2019, Vice President Howard-Taylor said she is focused on helping President Weah improve the lives of Liberians and not on rumors as contained in the leaked audio.

“For me, there are so many important things on our desk: the issue of governance of our state; the issue of jobs for our people; the issue of how we can improve the economy to fulfill the pro-poor agenda. I think those are the important issues and not rumors and gossip,” the Liberian First female Vice President stressed.

She encouraged the media in Liberia to elevate the real issues of how the country can improve instead of dwelling on unsubstantiated gossips.

On the ongoing impeachment proceedings against Associate Justice Kabineh Ja’neh, Veep Howard-Taylor said she hopes that the rule of law will be upheld even though she is not part of the process but playing an observatory role.

“We hope that everything will be done according to what the law says but I am observing,” she noted.

In essence, Chief Dr. Howard-Taylor said she is not distracted by what naysayers think but her commitment to work with President Weah to the finishing lines remains intact.

Superintendent Walker has since been suspended by President Weah for the comments contained in the leaked audio and she also been instructed to turn in all government’s property in her possession pending the outcome of an investigation. Leaked Audio is pasted below.
