Today, December 4, 2020, Liberia’s Minister of Education Prof, D. Ansu Sonii, Sr, along with his principal Deputy Minister, Latim Da-thong, Assistant Minister of Student Personnel Services, Tarnue M. Bongolee and the Director of Scholarships, Mr. Theophilus Snorton, graced the presence of the top twenty-five (25) students who achieved the highest scores in the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) 2020.
In keeping up with the celebration and furtherance of academic excellence initiated three years ago by the Government of Liberia, the Ministry of Education organized honoring program for the 25 toppers in regards to recognitions of their high work and excellent academic performances.
As Government persists on its commitment to empowering the upcoming generation of excellent students, all 25 students have officially been awarded international scholarships to study abroad and complete their undergraduate degree programs beginning next academic year -March 2021.
The Ministry commits that transparency and uprightness remain paramount component of this process; henceforth, awarding scholarships only to the deserving students based on academic excellence is welcoming. Accordingly, the scholarship awardees were selected based on merits and records provided by WAEC Liberia and confirmed by the Ministry of Education.
Meanwhile, the Ministry extends sincere congratulations to all scholarship awardees and a generous congratulations to all students who sat the WASSCE 2020 for their improved performances.
