Monrovia City Mayor Jefferson Tamba Koijee says he will provide basic education on city ordinances to petty traders on how to maintain a clean city before enforcing the law.

Addressing a press conference at the Monrovia City Hall in Sinkor Thursday, Koijee said: “We must be able to provide basic education to petty traders who are selling on the streets before enforcing the City Ordinances.”

Koijee stressed: “When the people are informed and knowledgeable about the orderliness of a city, then we can go ahead to enforce the law,” adding: “We are not here to create damage for our people because this government is for the people.”

According to him, Monrovia City has a lot of challenges and he accepts the responsibility to implement programs to keep it clean.

Meanwhile, Mayor Koijee is calling on President George Weah and all Liberians, including the religious community, Legislators and all citizens to collaborate and help in maintaining the city because “Liberia is all we have.”

He emphasized that “a clean City should be everybody’s concern and so we must take full responsibility.”

Ina related development; Mayor Koijee has expressed thanks and appreciation to the Almighty God for saving him and his friends in the recent motor accident they were involved in on the Bong County highway.

He clarified that he was not traveling with any huge amount of money as posted on social media.
