Koijee Chairs Ruling Party’s Nationwide Primaries Committee Again

For the third time in succession, the Secretary General of the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC), Jefferson Tamba Koijee has been appointed by the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the ruling party to lead the party’s effort to select aspirants desiring to contest on the ticket of the CDC at the October 10, 2023 polls through nationwide primaries.  The CDC Chief was first appointed to this position in 2017 after which the ruling party won twenty one (21) of the electoral districts in which the CDC fielded candidates for legislative seats.

Addressing a press conference on the evening of Friday, June 16, 2023, at the CDC headquarters in Congo Town, the National Chairman of the ruling party, Mulbah K. Morlu said the CDC had named a 33-man 2023 Primaries Organizing Committee to conduct “democratic elections through which delegates from all electoral constituencies will choose candidates to contest legislative seats.”

The ruling party’s Chairman disclosed that the committee members are drawn from a broad spectrum of all the nine coalition parties as well as collaborating institutions. He added that similar mode of selection would be applied to the Regional Structures the Organizing Committee has been mandated to constitute that are necessary for the conduct of decentralized primaries for all 73 representatives and 15 senators.

Those named to the 2023 Primaries Organizing Committee include Jefferson Tamba Koijee, Chairman; Mark Keshan, Co-Chairman for Administration; Abel Massaley, Co-Chairman for Legal; Emmanuel T. Swen, Co-Chairman for Elections; Alexander Saylee, Co-Chairman for planning; Eric Kpayea, Operations; Allison Barco, Spokesperson; Emmanuel Johnson, Secretary General; Pascal Dahnte, Deputy Secretary General for Records; Ronald Mendscole, Logistics; James Johnson, Public Relations; Robert Sammie, Chairman, Dispute Resolution; Urias Goll, member; Pulwoo Wesseh , Member; Rosetta Jones, member; Alexander Wento, member; Patrick Nixon, member; Maima Jah, member; Robbin George, member; Matthew Shan, member; Jimmy Tobay, member; Waifa Siafa, member; Henry Seehe Clarke, member; Brenda Karen Mulbah, member; Peter Bemah, member; Edith Nyumah, member; James Crayton, member; Hassan Newland, member; Bobbyson Sorboti, member; Jerry F. Danor, member; Augustine Nimley, member; Salia O. Kamara, member; and Augustine F. Tamba, member.

Additionally, Chairman Morlu appointed an advisory Council to guide the committee in the discharge of its duties as ascribed onto it by the ruling party’s National Executive Committee. The 10-man Advisory Council is chaired by Chief Cyril Allen and co-chaired by C Mike Doryen. Other members of the Advisory Council include Boka Wreh, member; Charles Gibson, member; Sidiki Fofana, member; Alfred Gibson, member; Whilemena Piso Saydee-Tarr, member; Thompson Jarpah, member; Rupert Marshall, member and Adama Sambola, member.

Chairman Mulbah K. Morlu admonished all registered voters to participate in the National Elections Commission (NEC) Voters’ Exhibition exercise to ensure that their information as collected by NEC staff during the registration process are verified.

The CDC National Chairman did not however indicate when the 2023 Primaries Committee will begin work.
