Liberia: Petroleum Refinery Dispels Rumors of Poor Quality Fuel On The Market

The Liberia Petroleum Refining Company (LPRC) has discounted report that occasional decreases in petroleum prices by government is as a result of low grade petroleum products deliberately imported into the country.

The LPRC press statement disclosed that information permeating in the public is false and does not represent any iota of truth.

The Liberian Petroleum Authorities say all products entering in the country go through several rigorous tests and after meeting the required specifications are permitted to be off loaded into its shore tanks.

The  Release clarifies  that the current fall in the retail pump prices of diesel and gasoline on the market is mainly attributed to the declined in the world market  price of  petroleum  coupled with management decision  to  institute a flexible importation procedure along with an  effective stock management scheme that created competition , enhanced efficiency and guaranteed  competitive retail prices throughout the country.

The management of LPRC therefore assures the public that all Products being imported in the country are appropriate for consumption as they are certified by internationally reputable independent petroleum inspectors.
