Liberia’s Vice President Abhors Alleged Sexual Abuse By Two Government Officials

Liberia’s first female Vice President, and long time campaigner for a sexual and gender based violence free society, Chief Dr Jewel Cianneh Howard Taylor says she is saddened by news that two Liberian officials were allegedly involved in sexual abuse of two teenagers in South Korea while attending a training program.

She emphasized that the issue of sexual abuse is the most abusive form of abuse, and it is unacceptable anywhere in our World. The Liberian Vice President pointed out that “until all women are safe from all forms of abuse no woman is safe.”

Chief Dr. Howard-Taylor’s comments were contained in a press release issued on the evening of Monday, September 26, 2022 in Monrovia.

Vice President Howard Taylor said she supports the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection’s call to admonish all government officials to be prudent in their social dealings at home and abroad; and “refrain from all acts of sexual abuse which have the proclivity to dent the image of our beloved country.”

As a staunch advocate for women in Liberia and across Nations, the Vice President values the safety of women and abhors any attempt to subject women to different forms of abuse.
