Op-ed: Thinking Beyond the Horizon- The Bedrock of Liberia’s Economical Transformation: Hon. Samuel D. Tweah

It is very easy to criticize but it takes a Patriot to recognize the debonair and practical workings of those keeping our government operating magnificently towards prosperity and productivity. Min. Tweah is the bedrock of our economic growth and development taking all the unmerited criticisms but still doing a magnificent work.

Hon. Samuel D. Tweah as Finance Minister is not just an intellectual paradigm but his brilliant handling of Liberia’s economy is extraordinary.

Due to the magnificent stewardship and distinguished manner in which Min. Tweah is leading the economical rejuvenation of Liberia’s Third World economy, l am optimistic that Neighboring nations will soon begin to ask for this great legend blessings so that Min. Tweah can provide logical and impactful economical analyses to their nation, because the Finance Minister in Hon. Tweah is a paragon of battling and resolving complex problems with his head high believing in commitment, authentic calculation, honesty, transparency and brilliance in solving the old age problems affecting the wellbeing of the people.

Let’s highlight impactful gains Min. Tweah is doing for Liberia’s economical transformation as Minister of Finance:

1. Under his watch as Finance Minister, the National Payroll Cleanup Taskforce saved the Republic of Liberia over $2 Million USD of taxpayers money that will be used for improving the education, health and infrastructure development sectors of the Nation

2. His legendary implementation of the Salary Harmonization and Payroll reform is instrumental in providing employment for over 850 voluntary teachers to get on GoL Payroll and about 600 supplementary teachers get pay increment between 75% -200% from a minimum base of US$95

3. He believes in the Liberianization and promotion of Liberians being actively involved into the economy, from that backdrop, MFDP is providing loans worth over US$5m to Small Businesses. This is a hallmark to the utilization of empowering Liberians to strengthen the economy

4. Our Foreign Exchange inflows Shrank in 2018, triggering a depreciation of the Liberian dollar by about 26% and a sharp rise in Inflation to 23.5% but in 2019, we are beyond grateful to God for the brilliance of Minister Samuel D Tweah Jr who performed Miraculous economical ideas and that has brought upon us Macroeconomic Stability

5. Due to farsightedness, Min. Tweah established a new Act/strategy that regulates the establishment, development and operations of special economic zones for the betterment of Liberia’s Economy. This vision will bring about US$25m from regional cooperation into the economy

6. During the time of Liberia’s recent economic depression built and instituted by the CPP-UP Led government, Min. Tweah successfully infusion of the $25 Million USD into the Economy was vital in having the monetary exchange stability currently

7. Min. Tweah as Finance Minister and major
campaigner of Pres. Weah’s Pro Poor Agenda for Prosperity and Development is robust and restless in the implementation and solicitation of funds in building roads, providing free and affordable education, building housing units for the less fortunate, fostering regional and international bilateral cooperations for national upliftment

8. Due to his intercontinental intellectual prowess and economical sensitivity of Minister Tweah in soliciting international funds for the government of Liberia; the World Bank have signed an agreement in the tone of $74.2Million USD. $64.2 Million USD will go towards the World Bank funded Liberia Electricity Sector Strengthening and Access Project (LESSAP) and $10Million USD will go towards the Recovery of Economic Activity for Liberian Informal Sector Employment Project

9. Through his Workable effort, the government of Japan has signed a 20 Millon USD agreement with Liberia for the contruction of the road corridor from Gabriel Tukur bridge to St. Paul’s bridge

10. With Min. Tweah leading the negotiation, the Government of Liberia and World Bank signed three (3) financing Agreement for World Bank Funded Programs in the tone of USD $157 Million Dollars for Southeastern Corridor Road Asset Management Project, the Rural Economic Transformation Project and the Second Inclusive Growth Development Policy Operation

11. With Min. Tweah leading Liberia’s economical redemption by lobbying credible international partners, Liberia to benefit about $USD 350M from the International Monetary Fund ( IMF) to support economic growth and infrastructure development in the post Covid-19 era

12. Min. Tweah as Finance Minister has brought down the inflation rate down from the horrible 30% position under UP-Ellen to 8.1% under president Weah. This is a economical miracle.

Fellow countrymen, let me say this to you, If Liberia will utilize her full prosperous potential in giving its citizens job opportunities, decent wages and infrastructure development, we must appreciate those having sleepless night to make this a living reality. Min. Tweah and his technocratic men are doing a fantastic work at the Finance ministry. We recognize them and express our heartfelt gratitude for being true Patriots and nationalistic symbols as we strive to fully implement the Pro Poor Agenda for Prosperity and Development ( PAPD).

To Min. Tweah, thanks for being the bedrock on wish the people’s president, Dr. George Weah can use to alleviate the ordinary masses from poverty to prosperity.

Our economy is progressing and we anticipate bigger workings.
