SINOE: Euro Logging Company Shipment Halted For Breach of MOU

The Euro Logging Company operating in Sinoe County has had its shipment of logs halted by the citizens of Murrayville Township after on grounds that the company allegedly breached provisions of an MOU signed with the township.
The company which started operations in the county since 2017 is now on the verge of losing rapport with the people of Murrayville Township.
The Development Chairman of Murrayville Township, Mr. Massaquoi Robert disclosed that the company signed an agreement with citizens of Murrayville to build hand pumps, rehabilitate roads from the Township to the City of Greenville, build clinic, Town Hall, School among other things before they start operations but the company has failed live up to its commitment while they are planning to ship their first consignment of logs through the Samuel Alfred Ross Port of Greenville.
The Township Development Chairman said the decision to ship in the absence of adhering to the MOU is counterproductive and against the interest of the people.
Mr. Robert intimated that as long as they are representing the people, it is their prerogative to speak for the people and push the interest of the people of Murrayville, Sinoe and the Nation at large.
He told newsmen that as long as the Euro Logging Company cannot do what was signed between they and the people, there is no way that they can start working or shipment in the area.
The Township Development Chairman also stressed that the people are not against them from working in the land but should do everything to satisfy both parties.
He is at the same time calling on the Local Authority and National Government to speedily respond to the concern raised by the people of Murrayville Township.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of the Township Mrs. Mary Saryenneh is asking the company to do what is right in order to avoid confusion that would be in nobody’s interest.
She is appealing to the citizens and the company to go back and revisit the MOU so as to make sure that the both parties are happy.
When asked her as to when will they revisit the agreement, she said that the review of the Memorundum of Understanding will be done soon.
The Township Commissioner is hopeful that both parties will be back to work soon.
