UMU Celebrates World Oceans Day In Robertssport

The College of Natural and Applied Sciences at United Methodist University (UMU), in collaboration with the Robertsport City Government, is excited to announce the celebration of World Oceans Day on June 8, 2024. This year’s theme, “Catalyzing Action for Our Ocean & Climate,” emphasizes the critical link between ocean health and climate action.

The event, organized by UMU students, will take place in Robertsport, Grand Cape Mount County, and aims to raise awareness about preserving our oceans. Key highlights include a keynote address by a distinguished speaker, student presentations on ocean health and climate change, and workshops on community-based conservation strategies and marine research innovations.

A panel discussion featuring experts from UMU, the Robertsport City Government, and members of the local community will explore collaborative efforts for ocean conservation. Community engagement activities, such as a student-led beach cleanup, will also be part of the event, promoting environmental stewardship and awareness.

UMU supports this initiative as part of its mission to promote sustainability, research, and community engagement. The College of Natural and Applied Sciences is committed to advancing knowledge of marine science and environmental sustainability, preparing students to become leaders in these critical areas.
