
The Community of Hope Agriculture Project (CHAP) is targeting Two Million United States Dollars (US$2M) for the promotion and enhancement of “I love Liberia Rice Campaign “to ensure active production of local rice in Liberia.
He made the disclosure over the weekend of April 27, 2019 in an interview in Sinkor
According to the Executive Director of CHAP Rev. Robert Bimba, CHAP is championing and leading the System of Rice Intensification (SRI) and leader of “I love Liberia Rice “Campaign in Liberia.
Rev. Bimba stated that the main objective of the campaign is to mobilize resources within the country and abroad to support local farmer’s production of Liberian rice which is well packaged through quality packaging process of the rice.
He stated that the US$2 million targeted would be raised if every Liberian can contribute one United States Dollar or two hundred Liberian Dollars as a minimum contribution to promote this national undertaking.
He indicated that the campaign is ongoing and people are making their contribution to the campaign at CHAP’s Head Office Zubah Town on Duport Road in Paynesville outside Monrovia, adding that an account has been opened at the Liberia Bank for Development and Investment (LBDI) for the campaign.
Rev. Bimba maintained that CHAP has worked with local farmers across the nation and Liberia rice is available for reasonable amount such as US$22 for 25kg bag, US$5 for 5kg bag and US$10 for 10kg bag.
He added that promoting Liberia rice initiative will go a long way to improve rice production which could lead to curtailing the huge importation of foreign rice into the country.
Rev. Bimba noted that the Liberian rice is highly nutritious as well as healthy and reduce the risk of diabetes and cancer as well as good for the heart.
The CHAP Boss stressed that the Liberian rice would enhance job creation in the agriculture sector and empower Liberia‘s farmers economically.
He claimed that the huge production of Liberian rice can be used to feed prisoners and members of the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL), noting that CHAP production of Liberia rice is of quality and international standard.
CHAP is a national entity working in urban and rural communities in Liberia which was founded in 2008 by Apostle James M. Bimba in keeping with scriptures from (Gen. 8:22) as a result of the multitude of human needs particularly hunger.
